What is HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS?

HOG W.I.L.D. (Welcome, Involvement, Leadership, and Diversity) WELCOME WEEKS at the University of Arkansas is a large series of programs hosted by the University to help new students in their transition to academic and student life on the Hill.  All students are invited to attend; however, events primarily target first year and new transfer students.  A wide variety of events are sponsored by several campus departments, academic colleges, student organizations, and community vendors, where you will find helpful information and an assortment of FREE stuff.

When is HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS?

Traditionally, HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS events will run for just over two weeks in the fall, beginning on the first day of classes and concluding the second Saturday of the semester. HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS events will also continue for the first week of classes in January.

What is A-Week and is it different from Welcome Weeks?

A-Week is a week of programs focused on the success of incoming first-year students. A-Week takes place during the week between Move-in and the first day of class. It is filled with events based around important pillars of student success, including Wellness, Tradition, and Community. Each incoming first-year student is also grouped into an A-Team that is led by an A-Week Leader. Do I have to attend HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS?

HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS is encouraged to all new and returning students.  It is the best way to meet people, learn how to navigate your way around campus, and discover campus resources that will help you to successful here at the University.  HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS is designed to help students get off to the best start at the University.  There are a number of events throughout the program, but make sure to check out our signature events.

Will I receive information about HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS?

All new students will be emailed information about HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS over the summer and during student move-in.  HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS information will be available at the New Student & Family Programs table during the information exchange at every summer orientation session.  A complete schedule of events can be found by navigating to the Schedule Tab on this website.

Which HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS events can my parents and family attend?

At this time, most events are aimed towards new students and take place during the first two weeks of class. For information about Parent & Family Programs and other ways that your family can be involved, please visit family.uark.edu or call (479) 575-7187.

When can I move into my residence hall?

University Housing coordinates a variety of move-in days based upon on-campus residence hall.  Additionally, there are different move-in dates provided if you are participating in the following programs:  Razorback Marching Band, Sorority Recruitment, R.O.C.K. How can off-campus students participate in HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS?

Events are specifically planned during all times of the day to maximize the availability of both on-campus and off-campus students.  Please see the HOG W.I.L.D. WELCOME WEEKS Schedule for times, locations and transportation recommendations.  We recommend that all students park in their designated parking lots, which can be found at parking.uark.edu.  Also, all students can utilize Razorback Transit for free to get to events.  Bus routes can be found in the Help-A-Hog tab and at transit.uark.edu. Off Campus Connections has more information related to off-campus resources for students, please visit their website at occ.uark.edu.

I have questions about finding my way across campus. Where can I get answers?

Help-A-Hog is a program specifically designed to help new students find their way and answer any questions you may have about the University.  You can find helpful resources, campus maps, parking and transit maps, table locations, “ask a question” and a list of frequently asked questions from current and past students.
