Black Student Welcome is an opportunity to welcome incoming freshman and graduate students, returning undergraduate and graduate students and faculty and staff for an opportunity to connect, network and build community within the Black population of the University of Arkansas. Students, faculty and staff have the ability to engage in a resource fair for all, participate in a dance competition to let loose and enjoy life and engage fellowship. In addition there will be several prize giveaways throughout the entire program, including, Airpods, food vouchers to a local restaurant and Walmart gift cards. This year’s theme will be “Black At UARK”, we will highlight the importance of creating a stronger community, representation, and the power of resiliency. This year’s event will take place virtually event, that will be just as educational, resourceful, and promote kinship, just as the prior year’s event. It is our hope that the conversations shared within the event will bring forth a new era of student activism, strengthen our campus community, and result in an increase of academic success for our Black students.
